On Thursday, May 2 at 8:00pm, the cell in Chelsea will present the New York contemporary music collective ensemble mise-en in their fourth and final concert of the season. This concert will include two world premieres of works by American composer Erik Lund and Korean composer Moon Young HA as well as two NY premieres by American composer Louis Karchin and Canadian-born composer from the Netherlands Graham Flett. In addition, a work for solo trombone by Danish composer Bent Sørensen will be presented.

At this concert, the ensemble will strive to present an evening of contrasts. The works by Louis Karchin and Graham Flett both employ a soprano within the fabric of the ensemble, while the works by Erik Lund and Moon Young Ha feature the entire ensemble on its own. Bent Sørensen’s “The Bells of Vineta” explores the quieter qualities of the trombone, providing a deep contrast with fullness of the entire ensemble.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors/students and can be purchased online at mise-en.brownpapertickets.com or at the door prior to the concert.
