A most fearless and versatile community of generous and diligent musicians, ensemble mise-en is in-touch with music of the present from every angle. I had the pleasure of collaborating with mise-en in 2015 to develop a number of compositions. They stayed in touch and have continued to perform these pieces internationally. Not only was this a fruitful process artistically, but it introduced me to a tight-knit community of solid creative individuals and friends.

It was such a pleasure and an honor to be included in the Mise-en Music Festival 2016 in Manhattan and Brooklyn – The ensemble did an incredible job, performing brilliantly across the four days. And Moon Young Ha’s direction, vision, and leadership made for a very warm, organized and professional musical experience. Thank you, so much, ensemble mise-en, and here’s to many more years.

The ongoing partnership between the Austrian Cultural Forum New York and ensemble mise-en has been a most interesting and valuable one. The young group’s talent, creativity, vitality and artistic drive make it currently one of the top contemporary music ensembles in NYC. It is their cutting edge programs and top-notch performances that make ensemble mise-en a treasured part of the ACFNY’S yearly musical program, with boundless potential and continuous expansion. Mise-en never seizes to surprise us, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Working with ENSEMBLE MISE-EN as a composer is incredible — they are a flexible and dynamic group who perform with command and charisma. I am honored to have had them perform and premiere my works!

My experience working with the ENSEMBLE MISE-EN artists was exceptional and one to remember. These are top-notch, serious musicians and artists, who’s dedication, expertise, thoroughness and skill make for a contemporary composer’s dream team. I couldn’t have wished for a better performance of my piece which was well prepared and rehearsed.
Bravo Moon and bravi Ensemble Mis-en!
You guys rock !!

I was so pleased to work with ensemble mise-en in Spring 2016, when they performed one of my works and led a residency with our student composers at the University of Illinois. Through a week-long tour, lots of concerts, hours of driving, tons of rehearsals, and little sleep, the mise-en players were complete professionals, with chops to burn and a sense of fun. They are all ace musicians, friendly, accommodating (even of weird composer requests) and committed to new music. Kudos!

I have always admired the range of the repertoire Mise-En offers, and their director, Moon Young Ha’s tireless effort in unearthing the new music which is under-represented in the United States. Not only the level of the musicianship of their members is admirable, but the ensemble is also dedicated to building the community of composers and educating young students through their festivals and residencies.
During their residency at Bates College, the Mise-En members interacted with our students closely, and shared their time and expertise so generously— even after the residency was over, they have even corresponded with some of our students and invited them to their rehearsals in New York!

It was a pleasure to work with ENSEMBLE MISE-EN during their featured appearance at the RED NOTE New Music Festival. MISE-EN was professional, friendly, and well-prepared for the Festival. Most importantly, these talented musicians brought impressive musicality and energy to their performances. I very much look forward to working with ENSEMBLE MISE-EN again in the near future.
